Here's my advice for youngcells.

If you aren't going to college (I recommend college), pick out a trade school or community college training that will get you a secure, skill-based job.

If you are going to college, DO NOT PICK YOUR MAJOR ON WHAT YOU WANT TO STUDY. Pick your major on the possible career paths that you want. If you are going to study Philosophy and go into probably at least 60,000 of debt (unless you got a full ride and you commute), make sure you know what the fuck you are going to do with that, either going to get a masters or PhD in something, medical school, law school, etc.

You might say "well, that's my point, people in business have bad stereotypes," but every profession has bad stereotypes. You don't think that there's stereotypes of being a doctor? Like being one who got a degree in South America or doctors who are sucking the dick off of the Pharmaceutical industry or doctors who always try to take the easy way in decision making with patients and fucking them over?

True, although economics can open you up to practical positions (a lot of economics majors go into banking), economics is more theoretical and is more prone to being academic than pragmatic, and it's more striaght-forward to go into academia as an economics major than a finance major.

My specialty is high level finance, I'll be some technocrat for Silicon Valley at BEST, most likely I'll end up in investment banking or central banking. Even though we make more money than doctors, we can't self actualize because we know the work we're doing is much less relatively important than what doctors do.
