After reading this I reached out to an IT mod and they said they have reason to believe that he MAY have been suspended from reddit as they don't think he can take mod actions on the sub anymore.

So it seems like this theory has traction. I think I'm going to make this into its own thread and reference yours within it as this is a bit more concrete.
