Yeah it seems at first it's just a matter of age difference (the opinion of a young woman versus a much older woman). But really you could interpret it as a commentary between the difference of opinion of a woman in older times versus a woman now.

Notice the people in the comments wishing more obvious romantic gestures and effort were still appreciated. Well they say that but their actions IRL and how they consider such things creepy and stalker-like behavior (if not coming from an attractive male) show that this is the kind of world they've created. And now they want to walk back on that just to seem sentimental and deep.
