I would go as far as saying that patriarchy is the number one reason why the average man nowadays is so terribly low quality. By taking away female choice, they eliminated one of the main drivers of evolution: sexual selection. Female sexual selection is the reason why deer have huge antlers, why peacocks have beautiful feathers, why rams have such thick skulls. The modern man is the result two thousand (plus) years of mediocre men passing on their genes.
