Semantics aside, it's a matter of how low you want to go. Is it fair to say a guy who doesn't rape and then serve 15 years is volcel? Most people would say it's unfair. I think it's a good rule of thumb that if ascending requires you to break the law or uses up a significant amount of your finances with no easy way for you to obtain more then it's not fair to call volcel.

I think we sort of need a term to define the subset of inceldom most so-called "incels" are: perhaps "functionally incel" since expecting someone to break the law or spend $1 million is a dysfunctional expectation.
