Shortcel vents about being 5'5'' and being a genetic failure because of this height. IT poster cherry picks by saying "hurr durr your father was probably 5'5'' and he created you! Therefore 5'5'' manlets can get laid!"
That's not how genetics work you fucking dunce. Your dad could be 6 foot and your mom could be 6 foot, but that doesn't mean you can be born tall. Also there's not in-between. if you're dad is 6 foot and your mom is 4'5'', that doesn't mean you're born short. height isn't that simple. It's determined by epigenetics (genes affected by environment like nutrition) as well as partly genetic as well. Height isn't a single gene. I've read somewhere that there are 700 genes that are expressed differently which determine height. Puberty can also affect these genes as well. And I'm not even going to start about how there are some genes that control puberty. Puberty is the most crucial development milestone for height. Genes that affect puberty can also affect those 700 genes, therefore those 700 genes can be expressed differently. Something might go wrong depending how the gene is expressed.
For example, you can be 7 foot because of a gene mutation that affects the gene that codes for building bone cells. But as the above mentioned, height isn't just a simple gene. Okay, you're 7 foot. What about the genes that code for building the heart muscle? What if one of those 700 genes for building the heart muscle didn't get expressed right? You could be 7 foot but your heart muscle is the size of a pea which means you can't circulate blood to the bones support that height, therefore having a risk of osteoporosis, further decreasing your height when you get older.
You see, height isn't predetermined in a linear fashion. It can change. But normally if you've finished puberty, but you're still 5'5'', its your genes and you're a genetic failure, not your personality.
