Let's start with some characters looks:
Sasuke (Chad):
-Sharp eyes, pretty low set eyebrows, fair skin+dark hair contrast combo, generally handsome
-extremely talented
-dark triad personality
-basically almost every woman in the show likes him. Even the fucking mizukage hesitated to kill him because she loathed having to kill such a handsome man. Women he literally attempted to kill still had "hope for him to change" and liked him anyways (sakura, karin)
Naruto (Normie):
-Rounder eyes and less sharp appearance. Also bad combo of blue eyes + very light hair give him a less dark/mysterious appearance
-Dumber than sasuke but still has extremely latent raw power
-Kinda compensates lack of striking looks with extremely low inhib and fearless personality
-Has one girl genuinely like him
Lee, (Incel):
-Worst appearance of the 3, with completely round/harmless eye area also
-Actually super fucking strong. Beat the shit out of sasuke (who was using sharingan) and naruto without even using ninjutsu. He is still motherfucking strong even late on the series. No one gives two shits anyways.
-They almost cast him out of the series at the beginning without letting him truly shine by making him have some leg injure (in a world in which you they can give you fucking new legs trough jutsu if they wanted to).
-Girls seem creeped out every time by him, this anime shows girls not liking him even a bit. When he beat sasuke, sakura went on to sasukes aid looking at Lee like if he was some monster.

Now on to the "hard work pays off" platitude:
The show started well, showing Naruto as some dumbass who was able to be on par with Sasuke the genius trough training (lee was originally made to be an example of this too) and hard work. Well, that was until you learn that naruto too has the motherfucking kyubii inside him, which completely shits on the "hard work pays off" thing. Later they comment on Lee himself being a born genius too because of the seven gates technique not being able to be achieved trough simple hard work. Later both charaters get powerups based simply in their latent pure talent: Sasuke gets mangekyo sharingan, Naruto gets Kyuubi chakra control. One was born with one of the most powerful eyes in the ninja world and the other with a motherfucking primal powerful beast inside. Not happy with this, the author reveals at the end that they were the fucking incarnations and heirs of Indra and Ashura, who were basically walking gods. Fucking lmao so much for hard work platitude. JUST HAVE TALENT BRO, EVEN IN A FUCKING FANTASY MANGA IN WHICH THEY COULD MAKE HARD WORK ACTUALLY IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT; THEY FILL THEIR PROTAGONISTS WITH BORN TALENT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT BELIEVABLE THAT THEY ARE SPECIAL.
