well , we don't get torture and executed or put in gulag like the North Koreans, have 3 generations chopped off etc...
but nowadays, one can lose their job, their career, lose your livelihood, black balled for life and throw your lifetime work and accomplishment down the drain, so yeah we are getting there slowly but surely.

North Korea seems like a more liveable place than the west to me sometimes. You're not allowed to criticise the government but at least their government protects them from western ideas and allows them to live tradional lifestyles.
Plus their government is at least open about their persecution while the US government does it via proxies like the mass-media and universities while at the same proclaiming to be the defender of free speech and democracy.
