More Poles commit suicide than die in road accidents, a new report suggests.
According to statistics by Polish police, a Pole takes his or her own life every 47 minutes.
Last year more than 5,000 people killed themselves, with over 10,000 attempted suicides over the same period.
Statistics show that 80 percent of the reported cases involved men.
Poland ranks third among EU Member States in terms of suicide numbers.
It is estimated that 60-90 percent of people who attempt suicide suffer from psychological issues, with depression being the most likely cause.
