The word, "edgy," means something is cutting edge. It means it is avant-garde. It is a compliment. Calling somebody "edgy" as an insult, or an "edgelord," demonstrates that you are a retard.

As best I can tell, this bastardization of the word came from SRS. Go figure.
 
Edgy became an insult when uninteresting attention seeker normies decided to make others believe they're psychopaths or stuff like that to compensate for their boring personalities. Nowadays you can't have a psycho or socipath character in movies, videogames, books etc unless you're ready to hear the word "edgelord" constantly.

Where's that damn 4th chaos emerald?!

Maybe that's giving too much credit considering the meme-spewing movie-quoting garbage culture there.
