I don't have anyone to come home to, so that gives me more incentive to go to this line of work. I know I'm gonna be on the road a lot, but at the same time too, not like anyones waiting for me to come home. Not to mention, truck drivers make good money so I can still be able to fund my copes and fuck decent looking escorts on my free time. Are there any cels that are currently doing truck driving that can give me info?

Use sunscreen.
At least on the left side of your face.

Breaker 19 driver!

See you on the flip flop

On one hand it pays well. But less time for copes.

this is an AdMirable goal

Got my cdl in 09 at 22.
Been in and out of the industry since at a few of the larger companies.
Gave up completely and just said the hell with it. Bought my first truck this year. Now live on the road in my kw t680 for weeks at time.
Living in a trucks not always fun but is better than living with your parents at 33.
Probably can answer a lot of your questions.

Basic run down.

Two avenues to get your cdl.

option 1 find a training program near you and enroll. Cost 6,000 back in 09 don’t know what it costs now.

option 2 find a company that will pay to train you.
down side to this is you will be contracted to them for at least 1 year.

After getting your cdl you will go out with a trainer for 1-3 months depending on the company. This is hell on earth and will suck.

make it past that and you get your own truck.

pay for a rookie was .24cpm back in 09 but it’s gone up a bit since ranging from .32-.40 cpm

key is to get your first year in with the starter company then jump to the companies that offer the better pay.

worse part of being a company driver is they have total control most starter companies are forced dispatch. So if there’s a load going to nyc and your the only one in the area your going.

You know as annoying as going out with a "trainer" for a few months sounds it helps to learn the job from someone who knows. Here in the UK a lot of new HGV drivers get their category DE license (what used to be called class 1) and then they throw you in right at the deep end out on the road. Maybe if you do a sponsored license with a big company like Eddie Stobart or DHL they might have someone go out on the road with you your first day or two but then you're on your own.

At the moment on this side of the pond there is a shortage of HGV drivers - many of the older guys have packed it in. Back in say 2010-2012 when I worked in distribution I looked into it and one of the drivers told me the only way to get driving when you have no experience because the insurance for a first year driver is a lot more than your pay that "peak" leading up to Christmas in November/December was the only way because companies will be desperate for drivers. So yeah - that is not a fun few weeks for a rookie driver.

Also OP - what this guy says. Your first year or two driving you will be eating a dick most weeks. The people operating dispatch are normally very disorganised (i know this first hand) and being a rookie there are going to send you here there and everywhere and mess you around.

You should definitely do it. Work hard - get your own truck after a few years - make plenty $$$$ and save plenty of it. Get a cheap house. I know guys who went into this built a business and retired in their 50's.

Good advice. Sounds like they really just throw you out there over in Europe.
Was trained by an owner op in 09 he taught me quite a bit. The training is valuable don’t get me wrong it’s just not fun when your a social out cast.
There’s still a lot of learning afterwards to.

After being away for a while I had to do 200 hours with a trainer in March. Guy had been driving 6 months.
Got stuck with a Tyrone always talking about his success with woman, etc. really uncomfortable

tell Scania to bring their trucks to the states Cabover fanatic want one real bad, either a scania or the kw k200 which kw only sells in Australia

we got a bit of a shortage here as well a lot of drivers are nearing retirement and not a lot coming into replace them.
Companies have started rasing pay and adding other little perks to get people interested.

Here’s the inside of my kw. Give you an idea of what a truck is like on the inside.
I’ve got the 76” sleeper and a few other things not found on most company trucks. (Apu and refrigerator)
Drove an international lt while at western hated that truck with a passion was much smaller.
Most companies seem to go with the lt or cascadia, haven’t driven one of those since 2015 but from what I remember it wasn’t a bad truck.
Biggest complaint with the t680 I have is the transmission. Hate the Eaton fuller auto.

You know in the UK they throw you in at the deep end but since the EU expanded eastwards in 2004 we have A LOT of eastern European drivers and HGV's on our roads and those guys get less training and thrown in at the deep end even worse. They get some of the worst treatment and do some of the craziest long distance stuff. They make them do things like drive overland from China and Korea to Europe via Russia. They get paid like £250 a month in some cases and have to live in their cabs for weeks.

You know I do find it strange that in Europe cabovers are standard - I have seen a few American style imports but in the US you almost never see cabovers. At least when I have visited they are a very uncommon sight. You know generally in the UK brands drivers prefer in my experience - Mercedes is bottom followed by DAF, MAN, Scania and Volvos are generally everyone's favourite. When I worked in distribution many years ago the place I worked had nearly all Volvo's - most of them were getting on for a decade old and were still in decent mechanical condition.

most cabovers here that I see are usually pulling farming trailers or equipment.
Problem is age. Last company to discontinue the cabover was international in the 2000’s.
Most companies want there o/o’s tractors to be less than 5 years.

You have an xbox in there? :dafuckfeels:

not at the moment. Use the Xbox controller for my laptop. Mostly switched over to pc gaming might eventually get the new Xbox.
Have been trying to figure out a way to get my gaming desktop in here though.

MIRIN the truck.

Absolute Unit tbh.
Are all trucks automatic? (Do none use stick/manual?)

@LastGerman

I feel like, this is all a great joke in order to mock me. Everything seems rigged. I could not even create a sauce for hamburger or kebab. I basically used the same ingredients listed in plenty of videos for a good sauce and yet it tasted like shit. This is all a fucking simulation like Sims.

Maybe it's just a shitty recipe

I also tried it multiple times with different variations and yet it still tasted like shit. All those videos had like 1000 likes, almost no dislikes and only positive feedback. It does not make sense. It seems like I do not have enough skillpoints for this.

Link the video.

It is all in German, also multiple videos. But I can list the ingredients from on of the videos:
500ml ketchup
2 T mayonnaise
3 T olive oil
60 ml water
each one teaspoon:
dill
mint
parsley
oregano
basil

2-3 T chilli powder or chilli flakes for hot sauce. Basically the foundation.

I do not have all the herbs though (chilli powder is the foundation here anyways) but I also tried different stuff from other videos like adding sambal or crème fraîche. All those videos only has positive feedback and they basically did not add any to very little herbs as well. I do not know. It does not make sense. I might give it another try later on, perhaps will all the herbs included.

super weird recipe, absolute overkill on the herbs IMO, also Olive oil and water in Burger Sauce??? Wat ze fuck :feelspuke:

i got your Back:

For good Burger Sauce, you need good ingredients (none of the cheap shit) and the balance of ingredients right.

2 Big spoons of Mayonaise (get the Thomy one), 2 small Spoons of Sweet Mustard or Honey Mustard, 1 small shot of Ketchup (Heinz), 1 small minced pickle, 1/2 small minced onion, 1 little shot of vinegar or of the water from the pickles jar, Optional: Some sugar (If you don't have sweet mustard) or some tabasco or a bit of fresh minced chilli. Mix it all up and you got yourself a Burger Sauce.

Now guess what? I had all of that. Just fucking lol at people blindly assuming that I used shit for it. It is all rigged. It has to be rigged. There is no other explanation to this. I basically do not have enough skillpoints. It is not my fault. I also cannot level up because this system here is bugged.

Dude this actually looks like shit wtf.

Funny is, this video was from a kebab store. Yet again, I tried it multiple times with different variations and it still tasted like shit. Perhaps I need to do a backflip before I make the sauce.

It can only taste like shit if you put Oil, Water and those 3 tons of herbs into it. You'd need hours to vigorously blend all that shit to make it emulsify. Seriously, try my recipe.

Wasn't meaning that, wanted to say that the taste gets worse/cheaper if you go cheap on the main ingredients mayo, mustard and vinegar.

I did that before you even mentioned it because I am already aware of that. I do not need any advices because I already have all that stuff that I need and I also watched multiple videos and recipes beforehand. I am not doing things out of the blue. They basically used the same stuff you listed. It is nothing new. I even said at the beginning:

I mean I even used Worcester's Sauce for it. I also added those pickles and so on. I know what I have to do here.

Most new trucks are autos. Need to order the manuals.
Most of the larger companies have gone all auto to try and entice people to drive.
Autos are nice in the city and in traffic but for some tight backing maneuvers I’d still prefer a 15 speed manual.

Man lives in there dude - you have to have something to entertain yourself when you ain't driving.

These have a battery bank with an inverter for 110VAC. You have a fridge - maybe an oven, but certainly a microwave. A diesel heater to keep the cab warm at night. A bed. The American style trucks tend to have a little more space in them than the cab over style we have in Europe. Those are even more camped.

Aren't you concerned about self driving trucks becoming a thing and ending truck driving as a viable job in the US?

Aren't you concerned about self driving trucks becoming a thing and ending truck driving as a viable job in the US?

automation is always scary but I think it won’t happen for a little while longer. Self driving trucks do pretty well on open road such as highways but they struggle in cities.

when they do arrive a driver will probably still need to be there for a while to take over if the system struggles/fails at least until the bugs are worked out.

personally I think it will only work once all vehicles are automated too many variables on the road.
Right now I don’t see that as an option, sure we love are lazy self park and other features but I don’t think we are ready to give up driving completely and let an ai do it.
They advertise heavily to the sheep about all the fun things you can do when you don’t have to drive but I think it’s so ingrained in us that at that point might as well just take a bus.
With what I see out here on a daily bases most of them should probably be on a bus or in an automated vehicle.

hopefully I’ll be retired by the time it’s something to really worry about.
