Before we start: the VTA (or VT, or ventral tegmental area) is the part of the brain that produces dopamine.

Study 1: Reward, motivation, and emotion systems associated with early-stage intense romantic love

To establish whether the ventral midbrain activation occurred because our participants were feeling romantic passion or were stimulated by an aesthetically pleasing face, we correlated facial attractiveness (as rated by others) with neural activation. This correlation showed that those with more aesthetically pleasing partners compared to the Neutral stimulus showed greater neural activity in the region of the left VTA than those with less attractive partners compared to the Neutral stimulus.

:feelsStudy: Simply looking at an attractive face activates the part of the brain that is responsible for dopamine production. This is something that was actually found as far back as 2001 (next study), where the authors compared this activation to addictive drugs and monetary rewards.

Study 2: Beautiful Faces Have Variable Reward Value: fMRI and Behavioral Evidence

In human neuroimaging studies, stimuli leading to significant signal changes in these regions have included drugs such as cocaine, nicotine, amphetamine, and morphine, pleasant or aversive tastants, pleasant tactile stimuli, and monetary rewards Berns et al. 2001, Breiter et al. 1996b, Breiter et al. 1997, Breiter et al. 1998, Breiter et al. 2000, Breiter et al. 2001, Breiter and Rosen 1999, Delgado et al. 2000, Drevets et al. 2001, Elliott et al. 2000, Francis et al. 1999, Knutson et al. 2000, Knutson et al. 2001, O'Doherty et al. 2001, Rogers et al. 1999, Small et al. 2001, Stein et al. 1998, Thut et al. 1997, Zald et al. 1998.

Btw, the spatial scale of those regions of the brain is "cubic millimeters of tissue" according to study 2.

It is not surprising that men like to watch beautiful women's faces; however, it was not obvious that this class of stimuli would activate the classical reward circuitry that has previously been associated with drug rewards, homeostatic rewards, and monetary rewards, all of which have direct physiological implications or can be readily transformed into goal-objects with physiological effects. This is a critical issue since many literatures outside of neuroscience consider facial attractiveness as a social construct that is not necessarily tied into the function of fundamental reward circuitry (reviewed in Etcoff, 1999).

:feelsjuice: This article from 2001 was already saying back then that facial attractiveness is so much more than a social construct. It's a fundamental desire like monetary rewards and the good sensations you get from drugs

For those who still aren't convinced of the importance of dopamine, read pic below, it's from an MIT article on the neuroscience of love

No wonder attractive people dominate all forms of visual platforms (movies, advertisement, tiktok, instagram, tinder etc)

Simply looking at an attractive face hijacks your brain like a drug. Are people who look at attractive people all day online any different from drug addicts?

No wonder the halo effect exist: how can you objectively and rationally assess an attractive person if just looking at them is so blissful to your brain?

i think everyone with some degree of romanticism will have realised this, i sure did, it's why so many men have trouble with obsessions over specific women, if it was just pussy you could get that anywhere

ogre if you hoard oneitis photos so you can dopaminemaxx with them, i haven't for many years but it's epidemic level behavior ngl

I've never had a oneitis but i've heard so many guys say that just looking at the girl they like fills them with intense emotions, they really want to see their oneitis as much as possible.

I bet this is what happens to the brains of all those simps who watch twitch foids all day. Their brain is hooked on looking at those foids

It would be interesting to study the difference between simply looking at an attractive face and looking at the face of someone you're infatuated with.

it's not uncommon for guys to save the pics and fawn over them every day, brutal shit

I didn't bring this up because it was a bit of topic but the first study (which had the wrong link jfl, just fixed it) actually noticed a difference: the right VTA and other parts were active when looking at people you loved (more of a romantic feeling than just "i find that person attractive).

"Activation in the right medial caudate was correlated with questionnaire scores that quantified intensity of romantic passion"

" Group activation specific to the beloved under the two control conditions occurred in dopamine-rich areas associated with mammalian reward and motivation, namely the right ventral tegmental area and the right postero-dorsal body and medial caudate nucleus "

I think this is a different phenomenon entirely. A lot of men become obsessed with women that aren't even attractive. Like they'll choose some random 4/10 becky to obsess over. Like someone they think they have a chance with. If it were just about the dopamine they get from looking at a beautiful face, they'd just look at pictures of gigastacies and gigachads instead.

tl;dr it's over

Incel faces create an equally strong opposite reaction of disgust and fear

That's juggernaut law all over again. They love to think they must be the only one going after that foid, that she must be easy :lul::lul: "if we lived closer i'd def have a chance" and "we're made for each other"
I think those guys are so incredibly demoralized that they can't see hot foids as real (i sure can't either tbh) so they look for the next thing

Sadly yes I bet MRI scans would show disgust or fear when looking at truecels

THIS. This right here, alongside with the study of people judging beauty under 1s, suggesting innate perceptual mechanisms, is exactly what we needed, because it confirms the suspicion. This is very important for establishing a conceptual frame for political action. This, expanded and articulated properly, is a huge blow to feminism. For this reason, it should be pinned and go to the Must-Read Content section.

"No, inkwell. It's because men in power have stablished certain beauty standards that benefits them so they stay in power :soy:"

Now it's even easier to destroy that argument :feelsdevil:

Beauty is power. That's why I suspect a lot of people, wether men or women, comply with the designs of their abusive partners. Ironically enough, feminism needs to hear about this :feelsLSD:

Gr8 post m8 I r8 it 8/8, as always :feelshmm:

I had several (because I naively thought I had a chance) and it warps your thoughts. It becomes pure obsession and hypes you to another level, like a stimulant drug. It just that as an incel, I go hyped for the wrong reasons :feelsbadman:

I have to look for a study that talks about that. It said that faces that showed more emotion were perceived as more attractive, and they suggest that it might be because the subjects feel that they predict what the other person feels more easily, thus, easier to know if she liked him. Not sure what they meant or if I'm forgetting something. Let's call it "predictability effect".

So maybe "predicting" you are going to be more likeable for a low tier female is what makes you interested in lower tier females thorugh the predictability effect indeed.

We are chick magnets bro. We are just the side that repels...

well it's simple isn't it, the whole dopamine circuit gets broken if deep down you know that supermodel women are unattainable, the brutal truth is that "attainable-looking" women are anything but attainable now, men are trying to cope by holding on to the past when it was easier

no wonder simps pay for only fans

Is there proof for this? I don't think you can say that whether one enjoys looking at a beautiful face is determined by whether they view the person as sexually attainable or not. I know it affects who people choose to pursue, but that doesn't necessarily mean it affects the unconscious reactions they have to faces. Just speaking from personal experience, when I was a teenager I had some becky oneitis because I thought they were attainable and stacies weren't, but I still recognized that a stacy is more beautiful and pleasing to look at.

But I'm not saying it is definitely not true. I'm just saying I have not seen it proven, and I can think of other things that explain why men develop oneitis for less attractive women.

Yup. Still retarded obviously since porn is limitless and free

And all those simps who watch twitch foids for hours and donate their money to them :feelstastyman:
cant imagine donating a single cent to some foid online

Well yes literally, your face doesn't stimulate anyone's dopamine production :feelsbadman: same for me

Despite this soyciety only thinks unattractive foids are entitled to enjoy looking at attractive men.
Unattractive guys that like looking at attractive foids are considered to be shallow, aiming above their league and sexist pigs.

Pretty much. I've never seen foids be shamed for looking at giga top tier men all day. Worst part is men just day dream about hot foids, while foids actively try to get with top tier chads
