A video in which a foreign English teacher brags about picking up women in China has caused outrage, starting a debate about the worship of foreigners in the country.
The Caucasian man, who wore a face mask in the five-minute video, boasted that he had met more than 200 women since moving to China four years ago. He also recounted how he had been a farmer in the US but was now living an easy life in China as an English teacher.
The video, which was first posted on video sharing service Miaopai on February 28th, has now garnered more than eight million views, with many Chinese Web users condemning the audacity and shamelessness of the man.
He introduced himself as “Jack” from the United States, and spoke with an Eastern European accent. In the video, he said: “It’s pretty easy to get a girl here in China, especially for one-night stands. You don’t have to do anything. You just have to sit there.”
To prove his point, he provided a recording of himself simply sitting at a coffee shop. The video showed that he was approached by four young Chinese women within two hours.
At the beginning of the video, Jack said he had been attacked in an online forum after sharing his hook-up experiences in China, for which he felt aggrieved.
