1. Who is collecting the data (to determine bias)
2. How the data is being collected (to determine accuracy)
3. What are the parameters and criteria (to determine why X is an indicator of Y in these studies)
4. How the data is being interpreted (also to determine bias)
The same data can be interpreted to make differing arguments, I'll refer to an example I always use
One could collect data showing that divorce rates are going down:
Person A: Based on my analysis it shows that relationships are becoming more stable
Person B: Based on my analysis it shows that less people are getting married to begin with, which creates the illusion of stability
This is why bias plays a strong part in these studies, cognitive bias will lead one to ignore certain aspects of something and only see what they want to see, and in some cases its on purpose, they see the flaw but don't care because they see spreading a "positive lie" that will influence behaviors in the manner they want as a "moral good"
A lot of these studies you are talking about are done by religoius and/or conservative groups, so I'm not surprised they'd get these results, I guarantee you if you look at the 4 things I pointed out relative to their data you'd see how rigged and flawed these studies are, and that women are in fact happier, but its dangerous to speak that truth because it will push whatever few women are being guided by fear into a life of degeneracy
