This type of shooting is a once in a lifetime thing. I dont think anyone else (as a single lone wolf shooter) will ever top this. The sheer magnitude of this shooting and the unbelievably meticulous planning is unrivaled.
- Managed to amass a large arsenal of 24 "AR" style rifles. Scoped .308mm AR-10s to deal with long range, and AR-15's in 5.56mm with bumpstocks to lay down a large volume of fire onto the crowd. All this without drawing attention to himself by law enforcement.
- A high vantage point over a massive crowd of people giving perfect opportunity for a mass enfilade firing position. That hotel room was practically a machine gun nest, and the plaza was the killzone.
- Calculated to a T the trajectory of his weapons to ensure the bullets land where they're supposed to in the crowd.
- Set up an elaborate camera system outside his door under a food service cart so he knows when the swat team arrives and can shoot himself.
This is the food cart Paddock used with the camera system cleverly concealed under it.
- Reselts: 58 dead, 422 wounded. All from a single lone wolf gunman. If it weren't for the diligent work of medical staff in Nevada and all surrounding states the body count would be in the hundreds.
This guy meant business. And I dont think we'll see anything like it again. The FBI and other intelligence agencies have undoubtedly learned from this attack and any shooting this complex in its planning will likely be thwarted. I'm amazed that he wasn't caught beforehand. I'm also baffled he didn't leave behind some kind of note or manifesto. Usually well planned shooters leave something behind to explain thier motive.

This guy is a mystery to me, I'm very interested in serial killers and all that and like reading about thier backgrounds and stories to work out what made them tick. But I cant think of why Paddock did it. He was married, had a wife, kids, and was a very wealthy gambler who came from a good family. Not to mention he was pretty old. Doesn't exactly fit the profile of a typical mass shooter.
