God will judge the living and the dead, according to believers.

Okay, so here's the thing though: your circumstances and your genetics determine so much of your moral character that God cannot be truly objective in His judgment.

If you are born black and raised by a single mother in ghetto Detroit, you are far more likely to become affiliated with a gang, prostitution, and drugs due to the environment which you are surrounded

If you are white born and raised by a wealthy Catholic family who sends their kids to Georgetown, you will likely have less opportunities for that level of immorality.

If you are genetically ugly, you will likely repel people away from you and not have support to push you forward and overcome your challenges; you will likely get or have mental illness, depression, or just LDAR due to your challenges crushing you

If you are genetically beautiful, you will get people who will attract and revolve around you, and push you forward to overcome your challenges; you will likely have a fulfilling successful life.

How can God issue a judgment and burn people for all eternity, based on a single standard of morality (the 10 Commandments, for example) when he sets up some over others to fail?

Because 'God' is not supposed to be an actual entity.
God is the personification of the human psyche.
Judgement day is metaphysical.

Atheists who take it seriously are just as retarded as theists.

When you read religous scripture, any scripture, you can see that much of the supernatural has nothing to do with morality.

The moral guidelines are laid out clearly, and the stories explore metaphysical concepts and archetypes.
