Curries are still hard to take seriously. Its a combination of their accent and their behavior. I see curries here all the time and they are never able to fit in out of their own social circles, outside of a rare occurence. So its probably because people don't have much exposure of them outside of media. Plus they are basically asians but darker skined and with more negative stereotypes.

It's "okay" to be racist against anyone you want, because we live in a fundamentally tribal and immoral world. I will hate whoever I want for any reason I want, whatever the hall monitors say.

To answer your question as to why it's okay, the answer is because liberals don't give a shit about fairness and curries don't make a valuable liberal voting block. But really the question is not why it is okay to be racist about Indians, but instead why they seem like the exception. The thing is that it took a tremendous effort of the media to portray blacks in a positive light. They had to create dozens of movies with black characters in them. Show them as having some kind of ancient wisdom or street smarts. And show them as reasonable people that look dumbfounded at some stupid thing white people do.

The same obviously hasn't happened for Indians, so of course the same cultural brainwashing isn't there. We don't have to treat Indians like a people that have eternally low self confidence and have to be appeased.
