It took me a while to realize why people on Reddit piss me off so much. Reddit is a online social circle simulator, with each subreddit acting as its own “lunch table” or “social group”. The upvote/downvote karma system is used to simulate how people repress certain kinds of people and potential “outside speak” in real life social groups.
The end product is a culture of rejects where fitting in and sounding good is all that matters. Social rejects and failed extroverts gather on Reddit as they are unlikeable outside the internet.
