Different kind of Marxist. Zizek is from Slovenia but grew up in a communist country (Yugoslavia). Yugoslavia was by far the most comfy authoritarian communist country; Tito was like the dictator who cared. Zizek is totally a philosophical and economic Marxist; he believes in the materialist conception of history and class war and all that... after communist success in Eastern Europe and the far East , Marxist academics called 'The Frankfurt School' in the west tried to explain why communist revolutions had not happened in more developed western European countries like France, Britain and the USA. They decided that workers in the West were brainwashed with nationalism, religion, gender roles and other forms of 'false consciousness' that made them unable to unite internationally as a class and rebel to create the communist utopia. So the Frankfurt School group of Marxist academics decided that in order to a successful communist revolution to be possible in a developed country things like religion, nationalism, traditional patriarchy etc... had to be undermined and destroyed; this is called 'cultural marxism'. Of course, that kind of cultural marxism was absent from actual Soviet Communism; the Soviet Union was, in many ways, pretty damn socially conservative.
After WW2 the academics of the Frankfurt school got jobs in universities in the west, especially California; their teaching spread and became massively influential in western universities in the 60s, facilitating the rise of the 'New Left' when the baby boomers were in college.
Zizek comes from a totally different background and from Marxists in the western tradition. It's part of the reason that western left wing academics like Chomsky fucking despise Zizek and think that he's a reactionary racist.

Zizek is pretty based, he has a very Eastern European mentality as evidenced by the clip above.
He said that admitting that men aren't attractive enough to get with women is considered politically incorrect today, and that incels aren't neofascists like the media is trying to portray. Also said we are mega copers, such as the clowncels.
