I think this is some weird thing to do with them not being able to truly accept their skin color, so like they bathe in the shit of these cows who they worship as a way of taking power and willfully wearing poop color skin instead of just having been born that way rather unluckily compared to fairer people.
This is a Indo European steppe herders thing, this stems from the days of roaming around on the steppe with cattle, so your beliefs are born around horses and cows, even zorastrians have weird rituals with cowshit and cow piss and horses given their common steppe origins, it's not Dravidian in any way contrary to popular belief
