JFL Do you think we will eventually have a 3D printed gun epidemic?

Once more 3-D printers get into the hands of the people, how could governments even regulate the number of 3-D printed guns? People will literally be creating their own untraceable guns. Surely, this will be a major issue in the coming future. What's currently preventing it from being an issue now? How comes people are not going 3-D printed crazy right now?

I'm no expert on the 3D printers but can't manufacturers program it in such a way to cancel any operation making a gun? I assume making a gun will follow a few specific steps that can be detected.
