Yes because in 2016 intel were the only ones making good CPUs. If I had to get one now I would probably go AMD route.

Yes, I have PCs with both AMD and Intel CPUs. Recently more AMD though, but I still use ones with Intel.

I still remember when AMD were ATi and nowhere near as prominent :o

Also there was a time when Apple were smaller than Microsoft...

AMD basically always was AMD, they just bought ATI. But I currently don't use any AMD GPU, just nvidia (excluding integrated ones like in the Steam Deck)

But yeah, for a long time AMD was basically the cheaper, inferior alternative to Intel ... then they had a short time where they were better (when Intel put out the crap Pentium 4), but then a longer period where they were worse.
