There was one particular moment that changed me more than any other during my school years.
It was my high school senior year English class.
For the first part of the semester, we had assigned seats.
But then, the teacher decided to let us pick our own seats.
So she asked us all, one at a time, to pick our own seats.
The teacher asked me first.
I looked around……and couldn’t think of a better place to o sit.
So, I just said that I would stay in my current seat.
The teacher let the rest of the class, one at a time, pick their new seat.
At the end of it all……there were empty desks all around me.
No one had decided to sit next to me.
For a moment, I almost got up and walked out of class.
The next day, I almost didn’t go back to class.
But, it was my senior year. In a few more months, I’d graduate.
So I just sat there by myself until I graduated high school.
