I have to say, the Leftist seething over this conflict is such a transparent display of hypocrisy.

Nobody gave a shit about Bosnia (250k dead).
Nobody gave a shit about the Congo (5.4 million dead).
Nobody gave a shit about Rwanda (500-800k dead).
Nobody gave a shit about Yemen (500k dead).

And yet, because they perceive Jews as White colonial oppressors, they suddenly became stridently obsessed about their pet-project of Palestine. The fact is, the people they are protesting for vehemently hate them, which adds a layer of stupidity which isn't very evident in other national liberation movements.

As for Israel, I'm not very sympathetic. The United States, and, more broadly, the West, does not gain anything from supporting Israel - side from causing trouble in the region. But they also don't benefit from supporting Palestine.

Long story short, both sides are terrible, and I couldn't care less whether they wage endless holy wars against each other.

This is a case of politicians wanting to keep their power, Netanyahu was growing extremely unpopular prior to the attacks so he gave a blind eye to what was about to come, he knew some situation could arise in which he could leverage for votes in the future. Hamas is a puppet government for assisting him indirectly, a classic divide and conquer strategy, a scapegoat to justify whatever their mind was made up for years ago. The plan all along was to retain power in that region, to never make any peace deals with the Palestinians, to expand into the West Bank all by keeping the Gaza Strip hostile as a means to keep justifying future actions by every means necessary.

Egypt was kept under the hands of Israel too under a different administration, it was a strategic move to give away the Sinai Peninsula back to the Egyptians in order to form alliance with the biggest threat in the region, this way the Egyptians agreed to not let any Palestinians into their territory, as a result the formation of rebel groups would be almost none and would thus eliminate potential threats.
