Many people think that believing in one's self and working hard will almost always bring success-this simply isn't the case:Everything about you is determined by your genes. Your looks, intelligence, health, etc..all of this and much more is determined at birth. Of course I'm not ignoring the role that the environment plays, but how you react to the environment is also determined by your genetics. Fairness doesn't exist in this world and neither does equality. Don' forget that

Agreed. "Meritocracy" as a concept depends on mind-body dualism, which is an infantile belief. Your mind is just as much a part of your body as your intestines, and it is just as determined by your genes and life experiences.
