On February 15 1942, after week of fighting , 36000 Japanese troops captured British Empire's military stronghold in the East - Singapore. Japanese lost 1714 soldiers while killing 5000 British soldiers and wounding/capturing 80000 British Empire soldiers.

Churchill called fall of Singapure the 'worst disaster' and 'largest capitulation' in British military history.
