Don’t think this is really a Darwin Award. In fact the NS rescue team ask that people don’t bad mouth anyone who is in need of rescue, as they say that if people are embarrassed then they are more likely to call their friends/family first iso 911.
Did she make bad calls? Absolutely? Is is fair to call her a Darwin Award? IMHO no.
Can you imagine if her parents/friends read this thread?
I'm not saying that what she did wasn't dumb. Going on a hike unprepared and without the proper experience is dumb regardless of the reasoning behind it (e.g. "capturing the perfect shot" or "proving yourself" or sth) but are the comments bashing her on the basis of her being an influencer really necessary?
This is a young women who died tragically. If she didn't die for the picture (and who's to say that she was, maybe she genuinely underestimated this hike she wanted to do) would people still act so much like she deserved it?
Edit: I kinda get that this is what this sub is all about btw, but this one just doesn't feel so dumb but rather naive
