I think this is more common among women than men. It's really odd.

They know exactly what they want, but they won't tell you. lol

It strikes me as dysfunctional and unhealthy and likely to lead to constant social issues.

Women might be able to get away with it more just because they have so many guys to choose from that eventually they will probably find one who happens to be exactly the kind of person that they want.

What if it's just a small minority of people that you can't read?

I guess after a while it's natural to just give up on people like this if nothing you do ever gets meaningful traction.

Some people are just very difficult to get along with, I guess.

Which in turn means that the percentage of people who will get along with them is very low.
