Putin visited Mariupol. It seems he might be getting desperate

there's no valid reason for him to do it. and it seems he did it without proper escorts.

there were residents in nearby apartment building shouting "it's just a show!" "lies!!"

what if any of them had a sniper rifle? not that hard to get in what was a warzone 1 year ago.

so why is putin doing this? to boost morales i guess. to show he's still in control. but on the other hands it seems an act of desperation.

the thing with putin is he has always been extremely cautious and careful. his public apperance often are totally staged by FSB agents. the same agents would play as visitors in a church, then as fisher-men and fisher women on a fishing boat.

but this time its a total exception with no proper preparation.

It seems strangely risky. Its a big week in the war with the President of China visiting Russia. And the Russians are worried about whether there are going to soon be major Ukrainian offensives like in the Fall. That might start in the Spring.
