tbf there is no determent to Pakistan favoring Palestine or most other Islamic nations (with the exception of Afghanistan due to border disputes) and allying with as much of the Islamic world as possible is probably in their best interests.

Nation and religion are different forms of identities. Nation is a largely race based, territorial identity, while religion is a "philosophical" identity, as in, who do you follow.

But they tend to overlap, as in all things in life. White Americans, for example, consider themselves to be Christian. They don't read the Bible, they don't examine their beliefs from a modern, secular perspective. Nor would they ever convert to another religion. It's just who they are, they go to church and that's that.

Just like they celebrate the 4th of July and thanksgiving, watch the nigs playing football, drink beer, watch movies, like huge cars and huge suburban houses, and eat burgers. That's just who they are, they wouldn't consider becoming anything else.
