ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٢
All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds,
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٣
the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Master of the Day of Judgment.
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ٥
You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.
ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Guide us along the Straight Path,
صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
the Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.

I am not a Muslim and can’t see much in the Koran. I am pretty sure it’s because I don’t know Arabic. I suspect the English translations just suck; reading them is like eating plain gruel. Surely there must be something more in this book.

And I mean it in all seriousness. Pindar is kinda gay in translation; it’s an exalted experience in the Greek. I want to think maybe something like that is the deal with the Koran but I don’t know.
