My therapist has been insisting for me to get a ""therapeutic companion"" for some months now to "help with my social anxiety". I obviously refused, as besides the idea of paying for a ""friend"" being ridiculous, it's even more of emotional prostitution than regular therapy and even overlaps with a care taker. I felt almost insulted by this proposal.A therapeutic companion is the person who helps a patient who suffers from any type of illness or disability. Therefore, it's a human support that works together with other specialists, permanently accompanying the affected in their treatments or in the development of a specific therapy.
Therapeutic companions provide day-to-day support to clients recovering from substance misuse or dealing with difficult mental health symptoms such as severe anxiety or PTSD.
But now I don't care anymore. It will most probably be bad though. I know it's likely to be a young woman, possibly a psychology student or someone wanting to be a psychologist, which means I will definitely get romantically and sexually interested but won't get what I need, as I'm your standard ugly-manlet-dicklet-spic-mentally-ill-22-years-old-with-zero-experience incel
What would you do?
