After heavy clashes that began by late night, the militants managed to seize Gao and forced the Malian forces to flee towards various directions (including Bourem).

Several civilians with vehicles (and on foot) have fled the city during the last hours.

I'm sorry, I meant JNIM. The event referred in this thread happened in July (a commune in Gao region), not the city of Gao itself. ISGS is at the very south from Gao (downstream from the main river). They're not there, yet.
