LOUISIANA — One person is dead and seven others were injured following a shooting at Grambling State University early Sunday morning
A homecoming event was underway when the shooting broke out at around 1:15am in the quad area, according to school officials.
A person who was not enrolled at the school died, authorities said. Another person is hospitalized in critical condition and six others suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A suspect has yet to be identified and detectives are investigating.
This the second deadly shooting at the Louisiana school within days, authorities said. On Wednesday, one person was killed and three others were injured following a gunfight on campus.
Detectives with Louisiana State Police are looking for 18-year-old Jatavious Carroll, a.k.a “Rabbit,” for Wednesday’s shooting that left 19-year-old Damarius Murphy dead and a 16-year-old boy injured.
Carroll is wanted for second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and possessing a weapon on school property.
Police believe both shootings are unrelated.
