Wu Dao - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org
It has been compared to GPT-3,[7] and is built on a similar architecture; in comparison, GPT-3 has 175 billion parameters[8][9] — variables and inputs within the machine learning model — while Wu Dao has 1.75 trillion parameters.[6][10] Wu Dao was trained on 4.9 terabytes of images and texts (which included 1.2 terabytes of Chinese text and 1.2 terabytes of English text),[6][11] while GPT-3 was trained on 45 terabytes of text data.[12] Yet, a growing body of work highlights the importance of increasing both data and parameters.

Jfl at the media silence about this lol. I legitimately thought for a moment that I was just experiencing the Mandela effect or something and just imagined that this article existed, because I couldn't find it for a while. Meanwhile, there's such a deafening silence in the West about this thing that, to this day, this Politico article shows up on the first Google page when you search for "Wu Dao" .

Legit not a single big Western/American media company seems to have reported on this once during its two years of existence. I'm almost certain that most (some 90% and more) Americans and other Westerners don't even know that this exists.
Meanwhile, when Baidu's stocks plunged a little after their unveiling of their own chatbot to compete with ChatGPT was a video instead of a live demonstration, pretty much all the Western media companies pounced on it to cope about how China has trouble competing with the West.

You can't make this shit up. Try to search for even a single story about Wu Dao on any of those sites and you won't find anything, but Baidu's little mistake makes the headlines in all of them.
Holy fuck, the cope of those journalists is palpable.
*China created what might legitimately be a superior competitor to GPT3 and uses it for years*
Western media: I sleep, because there's absolutely nothing to report at all.
*A Chinese company screws up when introducing their ChatGPT alternative*
Western media: OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG you guys, you guys, did you see that, did you see that!!!!
