French domestic violence cases soar during coronavirus lockdown

In the first week of France’s coronavirus lockdown, authorities reported a more than 30 percent rise in the country’s domestic violence cases. Although the government has put a number of measures in place to make it easier for victims to report such abuses, few seem to have taken advantage of them so far. FRANCE 24 reports.

They get a call from a woman who says anything about her husband and immediately it counts as a domestic violence statistic. Even though there was never a trial and it was never proved or anything like that

It doesnt mean that they arent increasing, but this more than 30 percent rise is ridiculous especially considering what they count as domestic violence in the first place. Its probably closer to a 10 percent rise in actual domestic violence, like physical violence, but we will never know the actual rate because of these shitty statistics that the government gives out.
