Soy boys, numales, bugmen, hipsters, SJWs...whatever you want to call them, are simply the result of living life on autopilot in the current year.
In terms of their superficial traits (beard, glasses, holding their mouth open, etc.) they do it for the same reason why kids in the 90s drew that S thing (If you're over 30 and grew up in the west, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about). Kids saw others doing it and just copied it without thinking much about why they were doing it. It was just a random thing everyone did because everyone else was doing it. That's how they picked up their fashion sense and mannerisms.
It's also why they parrot the same phrases, enjoy the same forms of entertainment, and have the same political views. SJWism is by far the most dominant culture (particularly among western white millennials) so most people adapt by becoming soy boys (like everyone else). It's just the default.
If these same people lived in Nazi Germany, they would be the biggest cheerleaders for the national socialist party, report any Jews to the SS, and brag about it. If they were born in China, they would tell you that Mao Zedong was a hero, that the blocking of youtube, facebook, etc. are a good thing and protect the Chinese people rather than oppress them via censorship, that Japanese people are evil, and they would report any wrongthinkers to get them punished/alienated. If they lived in Cambodia in the late 1970s, they would be the biggest fanboys of the Khmer Rouge and think Pol Pot was a great leader. etc. etc.
Of course, this is not to say that these people are
inherently evil. They are just social chameleons....mirrors for whatever popular opinion at the time is. If they were born in a wholesome, peaceful, pro-freedom culture then they would be the most upstanding citizens and the contrarians would be the bad guys.
Why are all they all into consumer shit?
Are capital and investments now right wing nazi?
It's always funny seeing these people, who always rant about how evil capitalism is, suddenly become "hail corporate" when a megacorp puts out a "woke" ad. Same goes for when they say "They're a private company, they can censor who they want".
Of course these people don't really think of the logical contradictions in their beliefs because they don't actually think about their beliefs in any analytical way, they simply internalize and parrot it. This is why they don't allow for debate, and why whenever someone questions them on these contradictions, they'll just make a snarky stock response and/or reply with a reaction gif. And since their post with get liked/shared/retweeted/updooted it will only reinforce their preconceived notions.
