What happened over the past few decades is the idea that if you show your photos and videos to the whole world, then you are friends with thousands of people, you're a famous celebrity, and millions of people care for you.
It turned out to be incorrect, since our brains can only handle a certain number of close connections. So we reject the rest as "noise". Besides, all of us have to wageslave away for our Jewbucks, so there's a limited number of things that we can follow.
Still, women never stopped believing they were celebs, just like youtube chads, etc. So the nonsense goes on. But it's all meaningless, their lives are emptier than most people in the past.
