Look up "maladaptive daydreaming".

I've been doing this for 20 years. The hour before I fall asleep is my favourite time to do it.

happened during high school because i had no friends, got bullied, and had nothing to do (was to poor to afford the new game consoles)

i had nothing to do so i would literally just lay down on my bed and began day dreaming as if i had a life where i was more of a chad.

I used to do that too a lot when i was a kid. The worst parts was getting so caught up in your dreamland and then having a girl take you out of it by asking if you're okay.

Was never familiar with the term, but i've been doing this since childhood. I've had the same imaginary girlfriend since I was like 15, so half of my life at this point.

this happens to me a lot when i'm on the bus or something, because when i day dream i have a blank stare and jsut stare at something for a long time without moving my eyes. on the bus i get asked if i'm okay by random strangers then i feel all awkward and embarrassed.

Same for me, it usually happened in the school bus. I really like looking out bus windows and just seeing everything. Cars, buildings, people, nature.

You are fine.

What you are experiencing is literally less than what 2% of the people in the U.S has. Your "dreaming" is practically invisible, so there's nothing to worry about. The only time it's "maladaptive" is if YOU feel is affecting you in a negative way.

Trust me, this was something I pondered over. This is something you will get over quite easily in the future.

Not really.
so you created it by yourself without any external stimuli?

also, this fantasy involves sex or just romance? both?

Her facial features are similar to a girl I went to high school with that was 2 grades higher than me.  Her personality is not based on her or anyone else though.

It's a strictly romantic fantasy.  Even when I had a sex drive I never had any sexual thoughts about her.

can relate, only had thoughts of cuddling and sleeping in bed with her.

That's some pro shit. I never created anyone from scratch. I use real girls who I had the most fleeting of interactions with. I mostly recycle "meet cute" scenarios with these girls. Imagine talking to them, flirting etc. And doing intimate things like snuggling, holding hands, kissing, watching a movie together etc. I'm a porn addict too but that's largely a separate thing.

I don't know. It's like any addiction. Stop doing it and focus on other things. Particularly focus on attaching to reality. Look up mindfulness. Parse all the meditation and hokey shit and get to the part that's basically training your mind to focus on the moment and the present. eg. if you're watching a movie you ask yourself questions about details of what's happening, make comments to yourself, etc. Literally out loud. Same if you're eating a meal. So you train your brain to be present and focused. I think that's the jist of it. Haven't really tried it lol but it sounds logical. The brain is plastic af and can be trained, like a muscle.

Maladaptive daydreaming isn't recognised in psychology/psychiatry, I don't think. So you'll probably get diagnosed with schizophrenia if you see a Doctor about it (I did).

just curious, any benefits for getting diagnosed. i literally cannot focus in college sometimes because i just stop paying attention and go into day dream mode. I literally only feel happy when i'm in that day dream state. Every single time i dream it;s usually always about this day dream world.
