Planning on getting the Quest 3 in a year or two, solely for porn
Bought a 2TB hard drive which I'm slowly filling up with material, both JAV and American porn
Hope it lives up to what I've heard

Does jav have VR porn?
Yeah, basically every major studio and a couple minor/niche studios have their VR subcategory
Reviewers remark on the lower resolution compared to Western stuff (JAVR is mainly 4k, as opposed to Western 6/7/8k)
Of course, the Quest 2 and Pico headsets have 4k lens resolution (2k each eye), but higher res videos look much better on them

have you tried the quest 2?
sadly not, no
all information I know is sourced from porn forums, YouTube, Reddit, Oculus forums, etcetera
Was going to pick one up from Ebay as they're cheap now (~£200), but would probably regret not spending more for the Quest 3

My phone is 4k and I tried one of those vr phone holders but I could see each pixel and it was really blurry. I wonder how the oculus compares, if it has that problem or not.
Phone vr is the worst vr experience from what I understand. Easiest to access, but poor quality.

Depending on which headset you get, you won't have that experience. The original Quest 1 had something called the screen-door effect, which is where you can see the individual pixels akin to looking through an opaque curtain. The Quest 2 doesn't have that issue. You have to actively go out of your way to search for pixels to be irked by it.

Standalone headsets, ones that don't require a pc to run, are all I'm interested in. There are a couple companies, one being Pico, but Meta is where it's at for the general market.

It's pretty cool, I've used it for some games and it's a very interesting experience; although the novelty is where lots of the fun comes from, and it probably would get boring quickly if I owned a VR device and used it regularly.

So you have to hook the oculus to a computer? Im only interested in watching 4k porn, not playing games although id like to play a few games.
Not for the Quest 1, 2 or 3. The Rift models are wireless, but need cables if you want to play pc games. The $1500 Quest Pro can be used standalone or tethered.
Battery life for those who play games is a little over 2 hours. For videos solely, not sure.
The Quest 3 is the same weight roughly as the 2, but 40% slimmer (better weight balance to ease fatigue).

holy shit those things are $1500?
Quest Pro is top of the line.
For us normal consumers, the Quest 2 and 3 is more relevant. The Quest 2 used is around 200-250. The Quest 3 is releasing in October at around 500 for the 128GB model - the models with more storage will cost more, no doubt.

Going to wait a year or two for the Quest 3 to fall in price on the used market. Gives plenty of time to read reviews and see if it's worthy of purchasing.

Vrchat is a good place to start if you like socializing. It’s on the oculus quest and PC. I’ve had mine for almost a year till my parents sold it and it was actually really good. You can talk to people without being judged (for the most part)
