Well, that topic is complicated due to etymology. Let us take Ashkenaz as an example:

maybe not untrue per se but there is a massive difference between ethiopian jews and ashkenazi jews (which people are generally referring to), in terms of demographic distribution, representation in socially affluent positions, share of wealth owned by them, etc.
ethiopian jews are basically non-existent in any of those measurements, at least in Europe and the US. so they have about as much relevance as Tengrii shamanists or some shit.
