Japanese people look down on otakus, not for watching anime, but for being a caricature, and Japan is much more than anime.
Japanese girls are women as well, they won't go after you because you can recite all the lines from the works of Akira Toryama, no, they also want chad just like western females.
And more importantly, you will always be seen as gaijin to them.
Even pure blooded Japanese-Brazilians are not seen as authentic Japanese in Japan, because they were born and raised overseas... so imagine how they'll see a white or black dude...
