I remember how it felt living with family or with close friends. It was really nice and significantly nicer than living with strangers/acquaintances or living alone.

I kind of wish I could find that again but it's not easy.

Also there's an advantage even over living with a gf because you get more space to yourself.

Yeah I fucking hate dorms I wish I could just do all my courses from my home town

It’s not. I really took it for granted in college when I was surrounded every day by people I got along well with. Had no idea that I would never be in that kind of situation again. Also didn’t realize how lucky I was to be able to befriend the majority of people I roomed with.

Yeah, I lucked out big time. :feelsbadman: Wish I cherished that time more than I did. I had horrible dorm experiences only a few years later.

I find that young people are generally much nicer to live with as they're a lot more friendly. I mean... I still don't think it's as good generally speaking as close friends, but it's still nice.

That's great that you had that experience @Epedaphic ^^

My dorm... it was good! I did become friends with some of them. I guess there are quite a few of you though and in some dorms you also have a lounge or large kitchen so you can socialise easily.

I feel like people make out it's sad to just live with friends for ages instead of a partner, but yeah it's still better than living alone or with strangers/acquaintances.

Even living with parents can be better, but it depends.

This is the reason I haven't left my parents place, everyone else in my extended family moved out and in with their partners whilst I don't have such luxury. Loneliness is a killer and I don't want my health to go even further down the shitter from not speaking to people, I'm too autistic to handle roommates and people don't want to live with autists anyway.

So many people on here said they like living alone or the idea of it, but it sounds like you're more like me in that you value having people around you in your living space. I've tried living alone twice and I thought it was horrible. I mean, in some ways it's OK but overall I felt so isolated.

I've actually had a bad experience with being kind of singled out for acting different too. Some people just aren't very tolerant/easygoing I guess.

I don't see why living with parents is bad. Generally speaking yeah it's way better than living alone.

What happened

I wouldn't survive living within dorms. Even though it was a long drive, I preffered driving an hour to school and an hour back home each day instead of being forced to live with roommates.
