I really dislike the naming convention in politics, because how do you actually call a nationalist faction that hold standard socialist views and not end up at the convenient and descriptive term national-socialist? You could do it the other way for sure, socialist-national or something like that, but some order among naming categories does require coherence towards the program of the described entity to be there.
I totally see where you're coming from. In fact, allegedly Hitler himself hated the name "national socialists" (that was already the name of the party before hitler even joined) and hitler basically said "how can we call ourselves socialists if our goal is to destroy the socialists?" but after hitler became the leader of the party, Goebbels convinced him to keep the name because it allowed them to use socialist terminology against the socialists, such as associating capitalism and banking with jews and whatnot
I've read that before 1926 the nazis had a left-leaning outlook and it was the indutrialists and capitalists who were essential for the success made Hitler turn on his heel and adopt more right leaning economic policy due to the ability of getting bankrolled and funded by them which drastically increased the ammount of influence the nazis could get in politics with that money.
