the moment i finish perfecting my mandarin im going to move on to french so i can finally understand what the first true protocel author was saying

Well French (Rabelais, Sade, Rimbaud, Celine, ...) and German (Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, ...) "pessimists" I guess are worth learning a language for.

the same reason I dont buy japanese or chinese books in english, the true essence gets lost in translation

I want to hear what they truly think in a heart to heart

the novel is a form of conversation with a person, to have a translation get in the way of understanding the authors pain, thoughts and erudition is an insult to the work itself

if i was an author and I wrote a work in english, id demand it never be translated to a foreign language

Lol. Translations are alright though I agree any serious study of any serious work requires reading the work in its original language.
