Hence, the idea of Patriarchy as describing past societies and today might be a bit outdated and needing in a little clarification.

It seems to me that it is more of a "The male elite ruling in benefit to most females at the expense of most men" type of deal. This whole idea of women's liberation inadvertantly leading to the rule of a male elite/Patriarchy is really interesting to me.

I agree somewhat. The only thing I would disagree with is calling the society we live in currently a "patriarchy". Imo a patriarchy is when women have (practically) no say when choosing partners and a matriarchy is when women gets to choose who they want.

The way I see it goes like this:

Patriarchy: Male polygamy, arranged marriages, rape, war brides ect.
Monogamy: Equality
Matriarchy: Male polygamy, female freedom, abortions, women's rights etc.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well.

I would even say that religion (Christianity specifically) enforced monogamy because it made incels become head of the Church by requiring priests to remain celibate. So in effect the head of the state (apart from the king) would have been incels, thus the enforced monogamy.

I disagree, male power structures are defined by patrilineal inheritance. When inheritance is passed on through males, there is a tendency to form clans, where decision making is done by males. In these instance, the society tends to favor promoting cooperation, because all of the males in power are related to each other (brothers) so they do not compete as much directly, and instead distribute resources and mates in an organized fashion. This organization and order is what allows the tribe to grow in number and technological advancement over time and eventually form countries. The reason why monogamy is a natural result of patriarchy is because patriarchal tribes generally start off as clans, where all of the male members in power are blood related, and women marry into the clan from outside. There are a limited number of women available, and the men being blood related instinctively want to help each other and cooperate, so they help each other get wives, which is why monogamy is commonly implemented in such societies.
