The OAV was the "pilot" and self contained. I knew there was a series but after 50 minutes of "cute girls doing cute things" felt like a 4 hour Lord of the Rings Director's cut I'll pass.

but k-on, yuru yuru camp and dragon maid are all pretty good.
I didn't watch it, but yeah, most are very bad in terms of plot.
If you want something that has lolis and a good plot, try Kodomo No Jikan (the manga is better than the anime) and Miman Renai.
