I never saw it that way ngl. sex/relationships never stood out as a major theme of the story to me. even his relationship with his girlfriend felt like it was mostly meant to convey how all the trauma he’s endured has fucked up his ability to socialize or maintain interpersonal relationships
the way I see it the main theme is human nature and how we reconcile our animal instinct with our sense of ethical reasoning to create concepts like morality, peaceful coexistence, etc. the later interactions between shinichii and tamura are the best example of this
