The average person has no real reason not to use windows and other proprietary software (with some exceptions like browser) only freaks like us care about this stuff

Custom os is best if you use old phones. I've got hacked before for using a outdated non custom os. Custom ones provide updates

i used to use ubuntu in 08-09, it was pretty kewl with the brown-and-orange gnome 2 theme. dumped it when they switched to gnome 3 lol'

i ran ubuntu server 2013-2016 then the system hdd died

so i reinstalled server 16.04 (i think) on a new ssd in 2016 and its worked ever since

i will install a new distro when it dies again in a decade lol

amazing that one of the data drives (spinning hdd) has worked 24/7 since 2011

I tried a few distros and they all gave me shitty battery, power usage on Windows is 5w, on most Linux distros it was 20w, Ubuntu was an exception and was around 10w so I stuck with it

I think you should try arch linux. The community is thrash and so many tranny uses it but its the best for my opinion. You should look at the endeavour os its arch based but comes with everything ready. You can just burn it to your USB stick and try the live environment without installing it into your computer. I hope you will like it brocel
