The fundamental truth of all humanity is limitation. When we stretch out the borders of our limitations, by learning more about ourselves and the world, we begin to see possibilities to reach desired outcomes that we're not capable of seeing now. For example: when you've been taught the skillset needed to resolve problems at work, you're now able to see a way to do your job that you didn't notice before you trained for the skillset.

When we don't completely understand why certain things happened, or how to change things to reach a desired outcome, we have a bad habit as a species of presuming that means a solution to your individual predicament doesn't exist. Part of the reason why many enlightened thinkers tell us that we have to walk our own path:

"No one save us but ourselves.
No one can and no one may.
We ourselves must walk the path."
- Buddha

is because each person's aspirations, experiences and biology are unique.

That being the case, if you're not actively pushing past your current beliefs and knowledge base (limitations), you're severely limiting the options that you could potentially comprehend. Those options could, if not cause you to ascend and possibly go farther then that, lead to you living a more happy and fulfilling life.

The truth is: there is no point in not trying, considering the overwhelming probability is - with our tiny, 3-pound mammalian brain - we cannot ever truly know if something is possible or impossible; and actions that we could potentially take toward a life we find more desirable remain concealed by the limitation our ignorance places on us. So inaction, usually as a result of perceived futility, is merely restricting our options and making the paths leading to the things we want harder.

This seemingly godless world means you're free to create your own purpose in suffering. The only question that remains is: what is worth suffering and dying for, to the extent that you'd venture into the darkness of the unknown, to search for the opportunity of obtaining it?
